Canvas Stretching Tutorial... 8x10 Giclee Print

In addition to selling my original oil paintings I offer Giclee reproductions, printed on high quality paper and/or fine-weave canvas. I personally mount and frame all of the reproductions that I sell. When I first began offering reproductions I was unsure how to go about stretching a printed canvas onto stretcher bars, but after researching the subject (and trying various techniques used by other artists) I was able to perfect a technique that worked great for my reproductions. I have documented my process in this tutorial.

I have a similar tutorial for a 16x20 canvas print, which demonstrates how to use canvas stretching pliers. That will be the subject of my next post.

I hope that this information is helpful to you.

Damar Varnish on an Oil Painting (Tutorial)

I have been asked many times how I varnish my paintings and I have put together an online tutorial describing step-by-step how I do this. This tutorial has been very popular and was re-published in the online article database by "Ezine Articles".

okeefe-arts.blogspot.com is back!!!

About six months ago I was delving into Google+ (which I had not really used up until that time) and I accidentially deleted the original O'Keefe Arts blog. (Duh!) I lost 5 years of posts, and the google restore buttons DID NOT WORK!  And so it was gone.

Well... out of curiosity I tried to recreate the blog and to my surprise okeefe-arts.blogspot.com was accepted. So... it's back!

I'll try to recreate some of the lost posts.
